Alcohol, booze buses; Speed, especially around schools; Visoible restraints; Warrants/Licences etc.

Dangerous Driving Pamphlets – follow up by police is limited to a letter, they are unable to prosecute. If a firms vehicle is identified they will ring the company

Driving licence at 15 should be followed up . drive only 1 type of car

Q.—How can WalkAuckland get support from police? A – depends on circumstances see Heather Wells (Inspector) Glenn Innes Station or Peter Caveney. General duty police are not keen on traffic duty
Q – have you ever given ticket to pedestrian A – No Its very very rare for ped to be prosecuted
Q – Will the ‘no cars policy in Aldred St University be policed? A – only with time
Q – Are the “No pedestrian’ signs on city sts enforceable? A. – only a recommendation, on the Motorway it is an arrestable offence.

General discussion on
Teaching immigrants traffic awareness should be a multiagency approach, need to state objectives
Cameras at traffic lights to catch red light runners, ACC own the cameras
Building up liaison with police e.g Onehunga . It is harder on a wider city basis than at suburb level
WA asked for his support to reduce speeds on Ponsonby Rd and approaching refuges
Keith will try and find out if it is illegal to walk along Wellesley St overpass from Symond St to Domain
